It appears that former WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel will be a member of the NXT roster for the foreseeable future.

According to F4WOnline.com, WWE wants Axel to provide some main roster star power to the brand, similar to what Tyson Kidd did for several months.

On the Dec. 18 episode, Axel appeared in General Manager William Regal’s office, letting him know that he ‘wants in.’

It’s unknown at this time as to who he’ll be working a program with.

Ryback, Axel’s former partner in Rybaxel, has been elevated back to the main event picture. Since their breakup, Axel was relegated to episodes of “Main Event” and “Superstars.”

Editor’s Note

Curtis Axel can outwrestle anyone, yet he’s never really found a way to connect with the crowd. Being on the ever-popular NXT brand should raise his stock, even if it’s still considered a “developmental” territory.
