A new Twitter post has provided an update on Sheamus’ upcoming return to WWE action. As previously reported, Sheamus recently underwent surgery and has been rehabilitating over the last couple of months.
On Dec. 31, Sheamus tweeted that he would be returning to the United States on Jan. 1, 2015, saying,
An early Happy New Year 2015 from Dublin, b’cuz later, i’ll be holding too many pints to tweet. Back to the good auld USA tomorrow! #NYE2015

Sheamus was last seen on WWE television losing the United States Championship to Rusev in a live post-“Monday Night Raw” bout on the WWE Network. WWE released a statement regarding Sheamus and his injury the following day saying,
“[Sheamus] is suffering from a left cervical neurapraxia (stinger in arm), bone spurring, narrowing of the spinal canal (spinal stenosis) and narrowing of the nerve canals (neuroforaminal) along with nerve compression in his neck.”
The former WWE Champion is rumored to be returning to the company as a heel, much like he was supposed to at the beginning of 2014 before WrestleMania plans got screwy (thanks to CM Punk’s walk-out and fan push of Daniel Bryan). Sheamus was set to come back as a bad guy when he returned from injury at the “Royal Rumble” in 2014, and was set to begin a program with Daniel Bryan. They were originally slated to face each other at WrestleMania XXX before creative plans were completely changed.
With Bryan returning at the “Royal Rumble” on Jan. 25 and entering the Rumble match, Sheamus could quite possibly return during the annual Battle Royal as well, sending Bryan out and beginning a feud which could take both men directly on the fast lane to WrestleMania 31.
Editor’s Note:
WWE NEEDS to have Sheamus return heel. We need better heels. Definitely.
