NXT Champion Kevin Owens is scheduled to appear on “Monday Night Raw” until August, per WWE.com. The company’s official website has Owens advertised for every edition of their flagship program until Aug. 3.
Owens made his “RAW” debut on May 18, attacking John Cena during the weekly United States Championship Open Challenge segment. Owens turned down Cena’s offer to compete for the US title, claiming that he already has a prize, the NXT Championship. He then told Cena that he was not going to allow “The Champ” to take credit for injuring Sami Zayn, and attacked him before stomping on the US strap while simultaneously raising NXT gold in the air.
Later during the May 18 edition of “RAW,” it was announce that Cena and Owens would face each other at “Elimination Chamber” on May 31, Champion vs. Champion, with neither title on the line. Owens would surprise Cena again during the May 25 edition of “RAW,” laying him out with another Pop-Up Powerbomb in the middle of the ring.
With Cena and Owens slated to face off on May 31 at “Elimination Chamber,” Owens will be featured on the May 28 edition of “Smackdown,” doing an interview with Michael Cole. During the interview, Owens mentions that he’s “been on the main roster two weeks,” leaving many questioning if the NXT Champion will stay on WWE’s main televised programming following “Elimination Chamber” or not.
WWE is promoting that Owens will continue working on the main roster until August, possibly having up-to-three matches with Cena, or possibly being added to the 2015 Money in the Bank Ladder Match at “Money In The Bank” on June 14. While WWE cards are always subject to change, Owens is still listed, at least for the time being, on all of WWE.com’s advertisements for WWE TV until Aug. 3.
Editor’s Note:
I knew he was going to get more than one match at “Elimination Chamber,” but a three-month span of time on the main roster? If they give Owens the briefcase and make him the next “future” guy like Seth Rollins was in 2014…I’ll lose my mind! Loving this news! (PS. It’s obvious that they want him to look like a main roster “WWE guy” by giving him new swanky fight shorts like he had on during “RAW” on May 25. It’s the little things)
