Following its latest live WWE Network special, “NXT Takeover: Unstoppable,” NXT taped four weeks of its programming, running into June. Within the tapings, there was a notable absence in NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. Banks, who defeated Becky Lynch the previous day at “NXT Takeover: Unstoppable,” did not appear in any of the four “NXT” episodes.

After Sasha Banks missed the tapings, there was some speculation that she may have suffered an injury during her title defense against Becky Lynch. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, written by Dave Meltzer, backstage information is provided on Sasha Banks’ absence on May 21.

According to the newsletter, there is talk within NXT that Banks may have sustained an injury to either her arm or her shoulder. It is unknown if Banks was injured heading into “NXT Takeover: Unstoppable,” or if the potential injury was sustained at the event.

Though, Banks was slated to work a match for the June 17 edition of “NXT.” However, during the second match of that show, her fiancé and new WWE seamster Sarath Ton, working as Mikaze, suffered an injury and was taken to the hospital. Banks followed Sarath to the hospital resulting in an early departure from the “NXT” tapings, explaining her absence that night.
