Kevin Owens Makes “RAW” Debut Attacking John Cena
NXT Champion Kevin Owens made his “Monday Night Raw” debut on May 18 seemingly answering John Cena’s United States Championship Open Challenge. Owens, who will face Sami Zayn for the NXT Championship at “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” on May 20, appeared on “RAW” not to face Cena, but to attack him and hype the NXT special event with a promo.
Owens seemed as if he was answering Cena’s open challenge with a microphone in hand. He claimed that he was the one that injured Zayn before he ever faced Cena on May 4, and that at “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” he would finish the job that he started.
Cena then reminded Owens that the fans are what make superstars, and to not to say that any of them that do not know him yet aren’t worth his time. He also said, “this is the US Title open challenge,” and that if Owens wanted some, he could, “come get some.”
Owens said he is a prize fighter, but that he already has a prize, the NXT Championship. He then unloaded a Pop-Up Powerbomb on Cena, leaving him incapacitated in the middle of the ring. Following the attack, Owens stomped on the US Title, and held up the NXT gold in pride.
Owens will face Zayn for the NXT Championship at “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable” on May 20 on the WWE Network.
