John Cena and Seth Rollins are reportedly set to engage in a program lasting multiple months, as reported by Dave Meltzer. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer claims that a Cena vs. Rollins feud with the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Championships in play is expected to run past “SummerSlam.”
On Aug. 3, Rollins would brag about being the man behind Cena’s injury, which has caused the United States Champion to miss a few weeks of WWE events and television. He addressed the WWE Universe in a brand new t-shirt, which reads as a parody of Cena’s t-shirt designs.
On the front, in the “Never Give Up” font, Rollins’ shirt reads, “Never Shuts Up.” The reverse side has Cena’s “U ? ME” replaced with, “U ? Knee,” in reference to Rollins’ knee doing the damage to Cena’s face.
Leading into “SummerSlam,” which will see a Title vs. Title “Winner Takes All” Match between the two, Rollins is expected to continue to brag about the injury, and wear the new merchandise. More shirts parodying Cena’s official gear may be created for Rollins over the upcoming weeks, claims Meltzer.
He writes,
“Cena vs. Rollins is scheduled to be a long-term program as it’s booked as the main event at most of the key house shows in September (of course that changes weekly) and they will be marketing Anti-Cena T-Shirts for Rollins, one of which he debuted on Raw in San Jose including a “Never Shut Up” and “You Can’t See Knee” shirt.”
Cena vs. Rollins for both the United States and WWE World Heavyweight Championships will take place on Aug. 23 at “SummerSlam.”
Editor’s Note:
It would be smart to put Cena back into the WWE title picture, as ratings have consistently dropped over the last few months with it only being Rollins up top. This should help keep relevance on the WWE title, and help keep Rollins growing as a main event heel.
