The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided more details behind Charlotte’s loss on “RAW”. The reigning NXT Women’s Champion debuted on the Dec. 8 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” only to lose a quick six-minute bout to Natalya.
Many were left asking, “Why would Charlotte lose in such a quick match during her debut match on “RAW”?” According to Dave Meltzer, it was Vince McMahon’s call to have Natalya go over, due to the time restraints that the company was dealing with during the live broadcast.
According to the report, Charlotte vs. Natalya was originally slated as a nicely timed-out singles match, much like the one that they had on “NXT TakeOver” earlier in the year. However, it then got changed to a tag team bout, so that Charlotte could get the win for her team and look strong on “RAW.”
However, it then got changed back to a singles match with less time to run it thanks to the Slammy Awards messing up the flow of the show. McMahon then made the decision for Charlotte to lose.
Many are saying that both Triple H and Natalya wanted Charlotte to go over in the match, but McMahon did not feel like that was the best move in such a quick match. Some say that Triple H did defend McMahon’s verdict once time was a factor. However, Triple H was also said to have mentioned that when the company brings Charlotte up to the main roster again in six months, no one will remember the loss she suffered on Dec. 8.
Editor’s Note:
So…yeah. They think we remember nothing. Ever. I do remember HHH getting squashed in 12 seconds at WrestleMania 12. I remember that. Oh, and the time he almost killed Jeff Hardy with a Pedigree. Remember that too. I remember the failed version of the Blue Bloods that ran for all of a couple of months in WCW featuring Lord Steven Regal and Jean-Paul Levesque. But…I won’t remember that Charlotte lost in Flair Country…Greenville, South Carolina…where I sat 30 yards away from her when she lost that match. Nope. Already forgot. Who’s Charlotte?
