New reports have provided an update on Randy Orton’s return to WWE. As previously reported, Orton is slated to return anytime now as a face, and is set to work a program with Seth Rollins in the near-to-immediate future.

The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Orton may return as early as Dec. 14 at WWE’s “TLC: Tables, Ladders, Chairs…& Stairs” PPV event. With John Cena and Rollins facing off in the main event, the most likely place for Orton to return would be during this bout.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter writes,

“As far as planned direction right now, Orton is slated as a face. There were market specific interviews for Canada that aired with Kane vowing to get back at Orton for the choices he’s made, leading to house show matches, which aired on the Canadian version of Raw this week, so right now his program is designated to be as a face with Kane.”

Recent WWE Live Event scheduling shows Kane will be facing Orton in the upcoming weeks following “TLC,” however WWE could always change their mind at the last minute, as far as direction goes. With Cena’s No. 1 Contendership on the line on Dec. 14 in his Tables Match with Rollins, the company could have Orton come back as a face to help Cena win the match against Rollins (who should have Joey Mercury, Jamie Noble, and Kane trying to help him win), or they could switch and have Orton come into cost Cena the match, then turn face later on.

However, with the way Orton went off WWE television, with Kane, Mercury, and Noble assisting Rollins in Curb Stomping “The Viper” onto the “injured” list, the most likely scenario is that Orton returns to cost Rollins the bout and set up a “Royal Rumble” or WrestleMania 31 program with Mr. Money in the Bank.

Editor’s Note:
I think it’s quite obvious that now is the time that Orton will return. If it’s not Orton that helps Cena beat Rollins on Sunday, it will likely be Roman Reigns.
