NXT will be holding a special taping at the University of Central Florida in Orlando on Friday, January 22, and WWE has announced two big matches for the event. In a No. 1 contenders match for the NXT championship, Samoa Joe will be taking on Sami Zayn, and the Women’s Champion, Bayley, will be defending her title against Carmella.

This special event will be held as a part of a WWE weekend in the Orlando area; culminating with the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view on Sunday, January 24 at the Amway Center.

Zayn was last seen on WWE programming on the December 23, 2015 edition of NXT. This was his first appearance in the ring since he was injured on the May 4 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” when he accepted John Cena’s US Open Challenge in his hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He defeated Tye Dillinger in his return to action.

Samoa Joe recently came up on the losing end against Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at “NXT Takeover: London.”

This will be Carmella’s first opportunity to wrestle for the NXT Women’s Championship on a televised event. Bayley’s last successful title defense was against Nia Jax at “NXT Takeover: London.”
