4. The Miz

At the beginning of this year, would you have guessed that we would be talking about this man as much as we have been? I know I wouldn’t have.

But, here we are.

For the better part of 2016, The Miz has been the Intercontinental Champion, and has made the title more relevant than it has been in over 20 years. Ever since winning the title on the “Raw” after WrestleMania, thanks to the return of his beautiful wife, Maryse, he has overcome every challenger in some form or fashion.

But things really exploded after he was drafted to “Smackdown Live” in July.

On the August 23 episode of “Talking Smack” on the WWE Network, The Miz and Daniel Bryan got into a heated argument, where they called each other cowards, and took personal shots against each other. This took his character to a whole new level, and he began to wrestle and cut promos with more intensity and intelligence then we have ever seen.

Following this, The Miz would have an amazing rivalry with Dolph Ziggler, leading to some of the top matches of 2016. They put on a clinic every time that they competed, and brought the best out of each other, which was already at a very high level.

To cap off the year, Miz would blur the lines of kayfabe, when he called out Renee Young for her real-life relationship with Dean Ambrose.

The Miz has been one of the best heels of 2016 and has evolved further as a character than any of us thought possible. And that’s because he is “AWESOME!!!”
