Here’s What The Rock Has Planned For WrestleMania 33

Since returning to WWE in 2011, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hasn’t missed a single WrestleMania event — whether he’s wrestling on the card, or he’s just doing a promo, he always shows up at WWE’s biggest event of the year.

In recent years, insurance issues have prevented The Rock from doing a full-on match. Basically, the movie studios that he works for are worried that he’ll suffer a significant injury if he returns to the ring, which would delay their project. Their concern stems from his match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29, where he suffered a hernia and a torn adductor muscle, which delayed the Hercules movie, in which he was the lead actor. It also forced WWE to change their plan for WrestleMania 30, which was going to feature a Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock match.

Of course, The Rock did officially wrestle at this past year’s WrestleMania 32 against Erick Rowan, but the match didn’t even last for 10 seconds. So, he wasn’t really risking injury by doing it.

Will The Rock make his annual appearance at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next spring? It looks like he’s planning on it, but, according to WrestleTalk TV, the pro wrestler turned Hollywood movie megastar is at odds with Vince McMahon over what his role on the show should be.

The Rock is reportedly up for doing something at WrestleMania so he can promote the last Fast and the Furious movie, which will be released two weeks after Mania 33. Also, according to the report, The Rock wants to involve Vin Diesel — his co-star in the movie — in whatever he’s doing at next spring’s big event in Orlando.

Vince McMahon is apparently pushing for The Rock to do a match at WrestleMania 33, but, as of right now, The People’s Champ isn’t interested in wrestling at the event, as he just wants to do a talking segment with his Fast and the Furious co-star.

It’s likely that the WWE chairman and The Great One will come to an agreement at some point in the next couple of months, but, as of right now, the two sides are at odds.
