It would seem that Banks is ready to once again begin her climb to the top of the women’s division. However, she may not be returning with her full arsenal of moves.
According to a report from Ring Talkk, WWE has banned “The Boss” from using her submission move, the Bank Statement. It should be noted that when she attacked Charlotte on “Raw,” she only used the backbreaker portion of the move, and not the actual submission hold.
Should it be true, the reason behind this decision has not been released. A possible theory that has emerged, however, is that the Bank Statement is very similar to the Crippler Crossface, which was used by Chris Benoit. WWE wants to do everything that they can to distance themselves from him and his legacy as much as possible, which includes prohibiting Banks from using her finisher.
This is all speculation at this point, and no formal report has been released.
Editor’s Note:
If this is true, this makes absolutely no sense to me. I understand banning Randy Orton’s punt, and even Seth Rollins’ Curb Stomp, as they can do head damage to their opponents. Plus, those moves are easily to emulate by children, which could lead to some serious injuries while they are playing. However, while submission moves hurt, they can’t do any life-threatening damage to another person.
