Lucha, Lucha, Lucha!
Tonight at the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view, Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio to win his second United States Championship. In the conclusion of the match, Del Rio exposed one of the turnbuckles, in order to deliver the knockout blow. However, “Mexico’s Greatest Export” ended up hitting the turnbuckle himself, and Kalisto used this to his advantage, hitting Salida Del Sol and pinning Del Rio to win the title.
Kalisto’s first title reign began on “Monday Night Raw” a couple of weeks ago, after pulling off a stunning upset. However, Del Rio won the title back on “Smackdown” a few days later, thanks to interference from his fellow League of Nations member, Wade Barrett.
Editor’s Note:
Several people have begun to compare Kalisto to Rey Mysterio, and are saying that he is the next generation of perhaps the greatest Mexican wrestler of all time. I also agree with the booking, as Del Rio as the United States champion was simply not working. I think that this is a great opportunity for Kalisto to show the world what he can do, and can inspire a whole new generation of Mexican wrestlers. Congratulations to the Lucha Dragon!
