Tonight at “Elimination Chamber,” Wyatt Family members Randy Orton and Luke Harper finally settled their differences in a one-on-one match. It was easily the second best match of the night, behind the main event that was contested in the structure that the pay-per-view is named for.

We, as wrestling fans, were treated to an outstanding performance by both athletes, as the in-ring chemistry between these foes is undeniable. They put on an “old school” style of wrestling match, methodically and slowly building to its climax. In the end, Orton hit his patented RKO out of nowhere, securing the victory and giving him the momentum that he needs to take himself into the main event of WrestleMania.

However, even in defeat, the loser of this match should have nothing to be sad about.

Because, in my opinion, Luke Harper established himself as someone who is worthy of main event status in WWE, tonight at “Elimination Chamber.”

The inevitable break up of the Wyatt Family has been building for quite a while now, but what has never been in doubt has been Harper’s ability to perform. He is someone who not only has a great move set in the ring, but is incredibly agile for someone his size. He is able to leap over the rope with almost as much grace as the performers on “205 Live.”

But what separates himself from other performers, is the uniqueness of his character. He plays the creepy, enslaved puppet with such a high level of conviction and believability, but also does enough to let you know that he can snap out of it and be his own man at a moment’s notice.

WWE clearly sees that they have something in Harper; he is a former Intercontinental Champion, after all. However, his performance tonight against Orton elevated his game to a whole new level.

I’m not sure at this point what would be best for him at WrestleMania. Heck, I would be OK with him being added to the Bray vs. Orton match, and seeing a Wyatt Family triple threat match for the WWE Championship. I can’t think of any reason why that would not be incredible on every level.

Whatever happens at “the granddaddy of them all” this year, it’s safe to say that Luke Harper is going to be a main event player in WWE before long. And his performance at “Elimination Chamber” has set that plan into motion.
