I took some notes, and made a few observations throughout the course of the evening:
- There were A LOT of empty seats across from where I was sitting. Several rows were taped off on the side that you don’t see on television; in fact, attendance was lower than usual tonight in general.
- The pre-show match was Aiden English vs. Luke Harper. Harper won with his discus clothesline. English came out singing, and instantly got MAJOR heat.
- As I mentioned earlier, the attendance was lower than usual tonight. In addition, the crowd was actually pretty dead for the first hour of the show, as well as for most of “205 Live.”
- Drew Brees, the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, was booed when they showed him on a video package during a commercial break. It was hilarious.
- There was only one “10” chant throughout the entire evening, and it was during the Akira Tozawa vs. TJP match on “205 Live.” I was disappointed.
- Randy Orton was the most over superstar by far. It wasn’t even close. On the other hand, Jinder Mahal received the most heat.
- The New Day coming out to the New Orleans style brass band was pretty darn cool too.
Overall, I’m glad I went to “Smackdown Live,” and I can’t wait for WrestleMania to be in “The Big Easy” next year!
Biggest Pops (in order):
- Randy Orton (this wasn’t even close)
- Jarius “JJ” Robertson (the WWE Hero kid – this was a cool moment live)
- AJ Styles
- Shinsuke Nakamura
Biggest Heat (in order):
- Jinder Mahal
- Aiden English (during the pre-show. Seriously, it was loud)
- Lana
- Roman Reigns (no joke – he was booed hardcore when a promo for him aired during a commercial break)
