Kevin Owens is once again getting the opportunity to show why he could be one of the top players in WWE for many years to come.
Jericho has been replacing John Cena, who has been pulled from the events due to the injury that he suffered on the July 27 edition of “Monday Night RAW.” Owens/Jericho wrestled a 25-minute match to open the show in San Diego, California on July 31, before main eventing shows in Ontario and Fresno the following nights.
Owens has had a tremendous run recently, being involved in outstanding matches with Cena at the recent “Elimination Chamber,” “Money In The Bank,” and “Battleground” pay-per-views. He has recently been working a program with Cesaro, and will be facing him at “SummerSlam”, but not before challenging Finn Bálor for the NXT Championship the night before at the “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” event.
Jericho was last seen on WWE programming at the “Beast in the East” pay-per-view on July 4, where he defeated Neville with the Lion Tamer. This was also the night that Owens lost the NXT Championship to Bálor, setting up their upcoming rematch.
Editor’s Note:
I’ve been a huge Kevin Owens fan since his first match with John Cena. I see him as the only legitimate threat to Brock Lesnar, and I think those two should be in the main event at WrestleMania 32.
