Shawn Michaels was recently interviewed by Fuse.tv about his first movie, titled The Resurrection of Gavin Stone. The movie opens on Friday, and naturally the Heartbreak Kid is excited about his silver screen debut, as he opened up about the correlation between wrestling and acting.

“It drives down to the core thing that I really loved about wrestling, it’s pretending to be something you’re not,” Michaels said.

But how excited are film critics for Michaels’ debut in Gavin Stone? Based on early reviews, not as excited as he is. The A.V. Club had scorn for the Christian comedy, stating that it “depicts faith in the language of bargain-basement rom-coms and TV movies.” Moreover, The Austin Chronicle rated the movie 1.5 out of 5 stars. While this is about the movie in general, no initial reviews have mentioned anything about HBK’s performance in the flick.

Breaking out in the film industry can be a difficult task, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson being the exception, not the rule. But, Michaels got involved in the project for more than just acting credits, as the role does reflect his Christian beliefs.

Will you be going out to catch this movie? Let us know in the comments.
