It was first reported by The Wrestling Observer over the weekend that WWE superstar Justin Gabriel had quit the company.
WWE.com has now released an official statement on the matter:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Justin Gabriel as of Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. WWE wishes Justin Gabriel the best in all of his future endeavors.”
It appears that Gabriel’s contract didn’t include a 90-day no-compete clause. Pro Wrestling Syndicate has confirmed that he’ll be working their Jan. 31 show under a new name:
BREAKING NEWS – PWS SIGNS FKA JUSTIN GABRIEL
Taking the injured AR Fox’s spot in The Suicidal Six Way Title Match THIS Saturday Jan 31st at Frozen Fallout in Rahway NJ will be “The Darewolf” PJ Black (fka WWE Superstar Justin Gabriel). Tickets available atProWrestlingSyndicate.com
Gabriel was originally slated to be one of the 30 men competing in the “Royal Rumble” match on Jan. 25 before he was eventually yanked from the lineup.
Editor’s Note
Like I’ve said before, Gabriel should clean up as an independent star. There’s life after WWE, folks. There’s money to be made.
