World Wrestling Entertainment COO Triple H released the following statement concerning the incident on social media:
MyNews13.com reports that the sheriff felt he needed to draw his weapon and fire at the individual. His identity is not yet known at this time. He was rushed to the hospital with what’s being said as a “life-threatening injury.”
The man was apparently obsessed with one of the Divas working at the Performance Center, however, she wasn’t at the building today. It’s not believed that the unknown man was a wrestler, or had a relationship with anyone on the roster.
UPDATE: Sources close to PWInsider.com have revealed the identity of the suspect:
Sources close to the investigation of today’s shooting at the WWE Performance Center have identified the suspect, who was shot by a Detective this afternoon, as 29 year-old Armando Alejandro Montalvo.
WWE took an injunction out recently against someone of the same name in an attempt to keep him from trespassing on the WWE Performance Center property in Florida.
PWInsider.com research indicates Montalvo was arrested for trespassing after being warned to leave property on 8/4 and in recent years had been arrested for battery on a person 65 years or older, violating a domestic injunction, fraud, and assault on a law enforcement officer.
More to come. This is one weird day in wrestling, folks.
