On the Sept. 7 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Randy Orton was supposedly written off of television following a post-match beatdown by The Wyatt Family. This was designed to write “The Viper” out of storylines, as WWE officials seemingly had nothing in store for him heading into the “Night of Champions” pay-per-view.

That story was later retracted by PWInsider.com, as it appears the highly-respected wrestling news outlet may have been given false or outdated information.

Orton was booked to appear at Live Events over the weekend, and may in fact appear on “Raw” later tonight in Memphis.

F4WOnline.com adds that Orton is scheduled for both television tapings this week, although that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll appear on-camera, as he may stick to working dark matches after the shows.

The possibility remains that Orton becomes the mystery third man joining Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Braun Strowman this Sunday at “Night of Champions.”

Editor’s Note

It would be fairly disappointing to find out that Orton is the surprise partner for the former Shield members, especially since WWE has been teasing an unknown superstar with The Wyatt Family attacking everyone who shows the slightest interest in joining their cause.
