With just one week remaining until the big “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view on Jan. 25, the consensus is that Roman Reigns will win the 30-man Battle Royal and headline WrestleMania 31.
WWE wants to elevate Reigns to “mega-star status,” culminating in him becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar on March 29 in the main event.
If any further evidence was required to prove that this is WWE’s plan moving forward, the official WrestleMania 31 magazine has Reigns predominantly featured on the cover.
A recent edition of WWE Kids Magazine in the United Kingdom also teased a Reigns vs. Lesnar encounter, noting how those two have never squared off on pay-per-view before.
With Lesnar supposedly leaving World Wrestling Entertainment after WrestleMania 31, Reigns can step in to that spot and become the No. 1 guy in the company moving forward.
There have been some discussions backstage as to whether he’s ready to carry that burden, though. Even so, the “Royal Rumble” match is his to lose at this point.
Editor’s Note
Feel free to pencil in Reigns as your 2015 “Royal Rumble” winner for whatever picks you may be making for the show. You can never discount Daniel Bryan, but it doesn’t look like there’s any way Reigns doesn’t walk away with the victory. He’s WWE’s next “Golden Boy,” whether you like it or not.
