While pretty much everyone on staff picked John Cena to retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship Sunday night at “Battleground,” there’s a very real chance he doesn’t leave the pay-per-view with the gold.

As we reported just a few days ago here at WrestlingRumors.net, Cena is scheduled to miss both the July 21 and Aug. 4 episodes of “Monday Night Raw.”

The reason behind is absence is he’ll be working on a new Judd Apatow film called “Trainwreck.”

A “SummerSlam” hype video promoting a bout between Cena and Brock Lesnar has also been leaked, but during the package, there’s no mention at all of the match being for the titles.

According to PWInsider.com, both of the aforementioned “hints” could be pointing towards Cena dropping the belts in his Fatal 4-Way match against Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and Kane.

For Cena vs. Lesnar, WWE is going with the concept that one of the greatest superstars of all-time would be facing off against the most dominant superstar in company history.

If that happens, Orton could end up as WWE World Heavyweight Champion and defend against Roman Reigns in August.

Editor’s Note

I’m not nearly as confident about my Cena pick as I was 12 hours ago. I’ve gone from 99 percent to roughly 65 or so. Cena is still the favorite, but doubt has creeped in my mind.
