Since the WWE broke the roster into two separate shows, the pay-per-view situation has changed. Some shows, your Royal Rumbles, your WrestleManias, are for both the RAW and Smackdown brands, while other are brand specific shows. While nobody really cares if, say, Roadblock is a RAW only show, there was genuine interest as to what would happen with Money in the Bank. Now we know, and it turns out it will be a Smackdown branded show this year.
Money in the Bank, which will take place June 18 in St. Louis, is noteworthy for the match that gives the show its name. Several wrestlers will compete in a match to try and win the Money in the Bank briefcase, which will give them a shot at the title whenever they want to “cash in” the briefcase. Basically, whoever wins the Money in the Bank match invariably ends up winning the title, which, since this is a Smackdown pay-per-view, means the World Heavyweight Title.
A lot of people would argue that after the brand split Smackdown was a better show than RAW, and getting the Money in the Bank pay-per-view is another coup for them. Come June, a Smackdown superstar is going to get themselves a big opportunity.
