Perhaps MVP’s most notable achievement was his first United States Championship reign. He held the title for 343 days, which at that time was the longest U.S. title reign of the WWE era.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter awarded MVP the Most Improved of 2007 and the Most Underrated of 2008.
MVP held the WWE Tag Team Championship, alongside Matt Hardy.
What’s interesting about this was the fact that it took place in the middle of a feud between Hardy and MVP.
In the midst of many contests between the two, MVP claimed he was so good that he could win the WWE Tag Team Champion with any partner, General Manager Teddy Long partnered MVP with Hardy.
To popular surprise, they won the titles. However, MVP would turn on Hardy after they lost a title match to John Morrison and The Miz.
And later at Backlash 2008, Hardy would beat his former partner for the United States Championship.
At three different WrestleMania’s, MVP competed in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
He had his last year in WWE in 2010, where he lost several title matches. Later that year, MVP was released from his contract.
This would not mark the end of his professional wrestling career, though.
From 2011 to 2013, MVP would work for New Japan Wrestling, where he would win the IWGP Intercontinental Championship.
MVP also competed in TNA from 2014 to 2015.
Overall, MVP bounced around different promotions, but he made an impact in all of them.
