As we previously reported, one of professional wrestling’s top international stars, KENTA, may very well come to WWE. In our previous report it was revealed that he will leave Pro Wrestling NOAH, a popular Japanese promotion where KENTA has spent over 10 years of his career.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an update is provided on the situation between KENTA and WWE. KENTA spoke to Japanese media, revealing that he will begin a new challenge at 33 years old, though he did not go in to specifics.
The newsletter’s report also confirmed previous reports that KENTA’s final appearance for Pro Wrestling NOAH would be on May 17. His contract with the promotion expired on April 30, but KENTA and the promotion agreed on a deal, which will see him work two final shows.
Additionally, the newsletter’s report does not confirm that KENTA will head over to WWE, despite most believing that is the case. In addition to rumors swirling about the international superstar going to WWE, there is also speculation he may join New Japan Pro Wrestling.
F4WOnline also has more on the matter. After the website reached out to WWE regarding the subject, the company issued the following response:
“Unfortunately, we do not have any further information to share at this time. We will keep you posted if/when we have any news on him [KENTA.]”
Editor’s Note
I’ve seen a small sampling of KENTA’s work in Ring of Honor, which is tremendous. He’d be a great addition to WWE. It appears the company feels the same way, despite not making an immediate attempt to sign KENTA after his time at the WWE Performance Center earlier in the year.
