On Tuesday, Jan. 20, WWE taped the final edition of “Smackdown” before the 2015 “Royal Rumble.” The episode of “Smackdown” is set to air on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Below are spoilers for the Jan. 22 “Smackdown” from Austin, Texas:

“Smackdown” began with Daniel Bryan introducing Ryback, Erick Rowan, and Dolph Ziggler, the previously “fired” WWE Superstars. The three returned to a huge pop from the Austin crowd. Erick Rowan began to cut a promo, but was interrupted by The Authority, who are minus Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. It was then announced that the three re-hired stars will each face off in a separate singles match. If they win their corresponding match, they will be part of the 30-man Royal Rumble match.

1) Dolph Ziggler def. Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett in a non-title match- With the win, Dolph Ziggler punched his ticket into the 2015 Royal Rumble match.

Next, Renee Young interviewed Roman Reigns about the Royal Rumble match on Sunday, Jan. 25.

2) Ryback def. Rusev- Ryback gained entry into the Royal Rumble by defeating Rusev via count out. This match was said to be excellent and well-received from the crowd. Following the match, Rusev began to attack Ryback, but “The Big Guy” would turn the tables. Ryback set Rusev up for a “Shellshock,” but Rusev got out of it, retreating to the back.

3) Brie Bella (w/ Nikki Bella) def. Naomi- Paige and Natalya, who will face The Bella Twins at the “Royal Rumble,” were on commentary for the bout. Following the match, the four Divas got into it, in a preview of what is to come on Sunday.

4) Luke Harper def. Erick Rowan- Harper capitalized after Rowan missed a splash from the top rope. With the loss, Rowan does not qualify for the Royal Rumble match.

A backstage segment between The Miz and Damien Mizdow, who will be in the Royal Rumble, aired. Dissension continued to be teased between the two, as Miz was not happy about Mizdow’s interpretation of X-Pac on “Monday Night Raw.”

5) Daniel Bryan def. Kane in a No Disqualification match- At one point, Kane tapped out to Daniel Bryan, but the referee would not call it. Towards the late stages of the match, J&J Security interfered, looking to cost Bryan. Bryan thwarted them off, but received a chokeslam from Kane. Bryan kicked out, and would hit Kane with a running knee to retain his spot in the Royal Rumble. Big Show came out and attacked Bryan, leading to a massive brawl between the entire locker room. At the end of the brawl, seven stars stood tall: Bryan, Reigns, Ziggler, Ryback, Show, Kane, and Dean Ambrose.
