According to a report by SEScoops.com, word is going around NXT developmental that Kalisto may be the next star from the brand to be called up to WWE’s main roster.

A No. 1 Contender’s match for the NXT Tag Team Championship will take place on Jan. 21 as The Vaudevillians take on Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

The winners will battle Kalisto and Sin Cara for the gold the following week during the program.

There is no word on whether WWE has any plans of keeping the Lucha Dragons together as a tag team once Kalisto is called up.

He made his NXT debut during a live event back in Sept. 2003, defeating Baron Corbin. His biggest accomplishment came when he and Sin Cara won the titles from The Ascension at “NXT: Fatal 4-Way,” giving Konnor and Viktor their first loss.

Editor’s Note

Fans will complain over the likes of Sami Zayn and Finn Balor not being considered first, but they’re better off remaining in NXT until WWE has something set in stone for their debuts. Once the Lucha Dragons drop the Tag Team Championship, there will be nothing else for Kalisto to do. The main roster could use a superstar of his liking almost immediately.
