On Thursday, Sept. 25, WWE taped four editions of “NXT,” with air dates ranging from Oct. 16 to Nov. 6. The final episode taped from Full Sail University that night would end with a bang. It featured the debut of one of WWE’s marquee recent developmental signings. Fergal Devitt, who will now be known as Finn Balor made his debut in NXT, according to spoilers from PWInsider.

The Nov. 6 episode of “NXT” saw Hideo Itami tease a “mystery partner” to join him later in the night. The Ascension, who are currently involved in a heated feud with Itami, called out Itami and his mystery partner in the show’s final segment. Itami obliged, as the titantron flashed “Prince Devitt,” before changing to “Finn Balor,” similar to how Kenta debuted as Hideo Itami.

Balor received a massive pop from the Full Sail crowd. He and Itami would beat down The Ascension to a pulp, as the Nov. 6 showing of “NXT” closed.

Word first got out that Fergal “Prince” Devitt signed with WWE in late May of 2014. However, it would not be official and confirmed by WWE until late July.

Editor’s Note

Awesome way to debut Devitt. I just hope the name doesn’t bring him down.
