Following the Feb. 2 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” the WWE Network aired its second live edition of the “Steve Austin Show.” This time around, “Stone Cold” sat down with WWE COO Triple H. HHH spoke on a number of topics, including a divide between he and Vince McMahon, Chyna potentially going into the WWE Hall of Fame, and Brock Lesnar possibly jumping to MMA. Additionally, CM Punk’s name briefly came up during the podcast.
Former WWE writer Court Bauer talked about the live podcast on a recent edition of his “Bauer & Pollock” podcast, which he hosts alongside Toronto sports radio host John Pollock.
Bauer recalled a time in 2005, in which Triple H and Shawn Michaels “buried” CM Punk in front of he, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis.
Bauer spoke:
“One time, Triple H along with HBK buried CM Punk. I think it was his 2005 tryout. Maybe he didn’t know the name, and wasn’t familiar with who it was but they buried him.”
Continuing, Bauer noted that it was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Bauer was in the gorilla position with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis.
Comparing it to one of DX’s funny and goofy skits, but with more seriousness, Bauer was shocked that the two would harp on Punk so much in front of McMahon:
“They annihilated his look and his work and I’m like ‘you just sunk the guy in front of the Chairman!’ They were shredding this poor guy.”

Editor’s Note
It’s still amazing how Punk was able to work his way to the top of WWE over the years.
