This Sunday’s Fastlane show will be headlined by the Universal Championship match between Bill Goldberg and Kevin Owens, and as of right now, everyone, including the odds makers, are predicting that Goldberg will walk out of Sunday’s show with Raw’s main title. However, some recent WWE advertising suggests that Goldberg might not walk out of Fastlane with the title.
On Sunday, March 12, WWE’s Road to WrestleMania tour will head to Madison Square Garden, and it’ll feature superstars from both Raw and SmackDown, and as of this writing, the local advertising for the show is saying that Kevin Owens will defend the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar.
Some are expecting Lesnar to screw Goldberg out of the title at Fastlane, but the prediction doesn’t make much sense, because by costing Goldberg the title, Lesnar is costing himself a shot at the title. But, it would make sense if Lesnar goes on to challenge for, and win the title a week later.
Of course, it’s extremely unlikely that Lesnar will win the title at a non-televised live event. WWE hasn’t switched their main title at a house show since the mid-90s, and there’s really no benefit to having Lesnar win the title in a match that nobody, aside from those in the arena, will see.
The local advertising could end up meaning nothing, and WWE will end up doing Owens vs. Lesnar at MSG without the title on the line.
