The Money in the Bank briefcase has typically been used to launch an upper-mid-card talent into the main event scene, and it looks like WWE is going with that idea again this year, although fans probably won’t be pleased with who is rumored to be winning the match this year.

According to Cageside Seats, this year’s Money in the Bank winner will be SmackDown’s Baron Corbin, as WWE wants him to be a legit main event star by the end of this year. He’s also earmarked to be the blue brand’s top heel throughout the rest of the year.

We don’t know if WWE will have two Money in the Bank matches — one for Raw and one for SmackDown — or if they’ll just have three superstars from each brand compete in one MITB match.
