On Friday night, we learned that AJ Styles had defeated Kevin Owens at a WWE live event at Madison Square Garden, thus making AJ the new United States Champion.

The title change led to questions about Kevin Owens’ health, as many believed that WWE had him drop the title due to an injury. But, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the now ex-United States Champion isn’t injured.

“I have no indication that Kevin Owens is injured, and it looks like the AJ Styles title change was just a booking decision. They wanted to do something at a house show, and that’s what they did.”

AJ Styles and Kevin Owens were scheduled to face each other at the next pay-per-view, however, it’s unclear if the match is still on now that the title has changed hands.
