After roughly seven months of rumors and speculation, The Undertaker will be making his return to WWE television for the nine hundredth edition of SmackDown next week.

That may have been better as a surprise rather than WWE announcing his return, but it’ll put an end to the idea that Wrestlemania 32 was the last time the WWE Universe will be seeing Undertaker inside a WWE ring, but there are still more questions.

It isn’t known if The Undertaker is just returning for an appearance to celebrate the long-term success of SmackDown, or if he’s revealing a potential Wrestlemania feud.

The most likely opponent for him is John Cena, who won’t be back on WWE TV himself until late December at the earliest. He’s been rumored to start a feud with Randy Orton, but there is an update about his status for Wrestlemania 33 next year in Orlando.

According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, WWE officials are expected to promote his Wrestlemania match next year as his retirement match, which means WWE is going to select his opponent very carefully since it’ll be the last bout of his wrestling career.
