The Undertaker has essentially been wrestling once a year for almost a decade now. He has a great match every year, so no one is complaining about the formula.
I’m complaining about this perception that Taker has with the WWE Universe. He has such a connection with them, and everyone respects him so much that he gets away with a few things no one else can.
I’m not saying anything bad about Undertaker as a person or as a performer, even if his days are numbered in the wrestling ring. That much is obvious from the rumors no matter what happens at Wrestlemania 33.
But let’s be honest about something, Undertaker should have retired by now. His age is really starting to show in the ring, but the reason he has been wrestling for this long with his “once a year” schedule is mostly due to the money.
There is nothing wrong with that. He’s earned that right, but he gets a pass from the WWE fans for doing this despite them going nuts on The Rock, Triple H, and others for doing the exact same thing.
The Undertaker is the veteran of veterans in WWE, so he knows how to make a dollar in this industry. It shouldn’t stop us from enjoying his matches, but let’s be honest and hold him to the same high standards that we hold to everyone else.
Why does The Undertaker get a pass from the WWE Universe for overstaying his welcome?
