The Usos turned heel on SmackDown earlier this week and created another chance for them to become the first SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
All they have to do is defeat The Hype Bros to qualify for the finals, and then defeat the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno in the finals of the tournament at “Backlash” on Sunday/
According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, that is exactly what WWE officials are planning to happen at “Backlash” and The Usos are expected to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles on Sunday night.
It would have been easy for American Alpha to steamroll and become SmackDown’s Tag Team Champions out of the gate, but the feeling was that would be giving away the payoff without any build-up.
With The Usos at the helm on the division, the face teams of the division like Chad Gable and Jason Jordan or Heath Slater and Rhyno can chase them over the next few months of SmackDown television.
WWE is trying to think long-term for the SmackDown product, so The Usos winning the titles will rebuild them and the rest of the division. Alpha will even get some sympathy out of the injury angle.
Do you think it was a good idea for The Usos to turn heel?
