The WWE Universe has been so desensitized to John Cena winning matches that it’s still a very big deal whenever he puts someone over, especially clean.

At “Summerslam,” John Cena put over AJ Styles clean, which will be remembered as one of the most important losses of his career. It directly led to Styles becoming the WWE Champion a few weeks later.

Typically, Cena bounces back strong. He loses to The Rock at Wrestlemania; then he beats Brock Lesnar at “Extreme Rules.” He loses to Kevin Owens at “Elimination Chamber,” then he wins the next two matches.

This time, Cena loses to Styles and then he took a surprising loss to Dean Ambrose last night during this week’s edition of SmackDown. That’s strange considering “No Mercy” is only a few weeks away.

The word on the street is that Cena will be off WWE television for a few months after “No Mercy,” so why not put over some guys to build SmackDown in his absence? Is this a sign of things to come for him?

WWE already has a few guys like Randy Orton or Chris Jericho, who are veterans that can take a loss and put over new talents. Is that how John Cena is going to be used when he returns later this year?

Do you think John Cena will be able to handle losing on a more regular basis?
