SmackDown Live just celebrated the 1000th episode of the show in grand style. Shane McMahon made his return to the brand during the show. His role as the commissioner will resume after leaving the brand to General Manager Paige for several months. After Shane’s recent return, some people are questioning Paige’s future on SmackDown Live.

Back in June, it was reported that WWE officials were pleased with her in the new role as SmackDown’s GM. It was a quick transition from her to move into the position after announcing her in-ring retirement after WrestleMania 34. According to a new report from PWInsider, WWE officials “love” her as the General Manager for “the blue brand.”
Shane McMahon’s return will have implications on Paige’s GM role moving into 2019. It seems WWE officials are planning for her to be in the role for a long time. That’s a huge change of heart after all the rumors of her quitting or leaving the company. At the very least, it seems Paige will remain in the GM role until her contract expires next year.
WWE is planning to promote the Rock’s “Fighting With My Family” before it’s released in March. Obviously, Paige will be pivotal in the promotion of the movie to the WWE Universe. Her time with Total Divas also gives Paige a platform to be seen in a different light. Despite losing her wrestling career, she’s on great terms with WWE right now.
It’s unclear if the former WWE Divas Champion will be interested to sign another deal with the company in 2019. She can’t wrestle anymore, but that might be WWE doctors protecting her. Depending on her health, Paige could decide to wrestle outside of WWE.
