Several fans were shocked that Finn Balor walked out of NXT Takeover: Dallas as the NXT Champion. That may not have been the original plan, but many people were surprised to see Samoa Joe take the loss that night.
It’s not clear why NXT booked Balor and Joe this way, but tonight during an NXT live event in Lowell, Massachusetts, Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor to become the new NXT Champion.
Below is the finish of the match that saw Joe win with The Muscle Buster.

It’s possible that former NXT Champion Finn Balor suffered an injury that forced the hand of the powers that be to push the title change tonight during a live event that wasn’t featured on the WWE Network or anything else.
The fact is it’s strange for such a massive moment to occur out of the blue without any promotion and even more so for Balor’s title reign to end so swiftly just after breaking the record for the longest NXT title run in the brand’s history.
There is a ton of speculation about Finn Balor’s status in NXT. He’s either suffered an injury, or the recent rumors about him making his debut on the main roster to form “The Balor Club” are taking priority on WWE programming.
Do you think it was a good move for Samoa Joe to become the NXT Champion so suddenly?
