Since turning heel at Hell in a Cell last year and joining Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn’s push has been much better on WWE programming. He still hasn’t won any championships or made it firmly into the WWE Title hunt, but his stock has risen a great deal. After a loss to Bobby Lashley at Money in the Bank, it seems he’s taking a much-deserved vacation.
According to a report from ProWrestlingSheet, he has been dealing with some nagging injuries for the past number of weeks. That would explain why his rivalry with Lashley mostly comprised of promo segments and their match at the PPV was short. The plan was to work through it and get him through the PPV match, which he was able to do.

It’s being reported that Sami wasn’t backstage at Raw. Apparently, he has been dealing with some kind of a knee injury and a problem with his shoulder. His injuries are bad enough to be taken off the road and WWE is sending him Birmingham, Alabama soon to be examined. As of this writing, there’s no timetable for his recovery or WWE return.
He will be in Birmingham, Alabama to be examined. At this time, there is no word on what kind of injury he has or his timetable to return to WWE television. The only thing the WWE Universe can do right now is hope it’s not a serious injury, especially with the Summerslam PPV around the corner. Who knows what Zayn would be doing at the PPV.
Whenever he returns, it’s going to be interesting to see how WWE officials use him. His partnership with Kevin Owens is not over by any means, but the two have split off to do their own thing for a minute. If Sami Zayn is out for months, Owens might be in a major rivalry and he’d have to find something else to do. That could be a good or a bad thing.
