When Patrick Clarke debuted in NXT as the Velveteen Dream, a lot of people thought his gimmick was too weird to be successful. However, he has made such an impact over the past year. He’s received so much praise from his peers. John Cena has specifically given him praise and the WWE Universe sees him as a potential major player down the line.

Last night’s match against Ricochet is a perfect example of what The Velveteen Dream is capable of inside the ring. Despite the huge loss, Dream’s stock continues to rise. WWE officials may have seen enough to bring him to the main roster after Money in the Bank.

According to the Wrestling Observer Radio, Velveteen Dream was already on the list for a main roster call-up after WrestleMania 34. The problem is WWE officials see him as a potential big star, so his main roster debut on Raw or SmackDown Live is going to be a huge deal. Dave Meltzer questions if WWE officials should wait just a little while longer.

With NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV coming up in two months, there are plenty of options for his next feud. He could challenge Adam Cole for the North American Championship, or feud with EC3, who’s in desperate need of a rivalry. It’s also possible that Dream vs. Ricochet could continue heading into Brooklyn. A lot of people would appreciate that.

Dream-mania runs wild as Velveteen Dream makes his spellbinding entrance: NXT TakeOver: Chicago II

At the age of 22, there’s no reason for WWE officials to push him too quickly. He’s been red-hot for the past few months, but there’s plenty for him to accomplish in NXT before The Velveteen Dream takes over Raw or SmackDown Live. However, WWE officials may have something specific for him. If he’s set to debut, it will happen sometime this week.

Should Velveteen Dream move to the main roster or stay in NXT?
