Zayn’s first appearance and debut on the main roster took place last year during a John Cena United States Championship Open Challenge in Montreal. There is no telling what would have happened for Sami if he hadn’t gotten injured until this past December. It’s likely that Kevin Owens transition to the main roster would have been his.
There has been a lot of speculation since his return at the “Royal Rumble” that he will be transitioning to the main roster and entering a feud with Owens since they still have finished business from NXT.
According to Inqusiitir.com, the expectation is that Sami Zayn will be getting called up to the main roster full-time after NXT Takeover: Dallas. It’s already determined that he will be facing Shinsuke Nakamura in his debut for NXT, and the transition is as Nakamura comes in; Zayn will be going out.
Frankly, Sami Zayn has done it all in NXT, but there is so much for him to do on the main roster that it’s questionable why the decision was made to have him return there instead of transitioning to the main roster immediately.
As of this writing, Samoa Joe is also expected to make his transition to the main roster after Wrestlemania. NXT is going to look a lot different in a few months and so will the WWE main roster.
