Dean Ambrose’s reign with the WWE Championship was great for SmackDown. It gets some flack for being lackluster, but it’s unfair to put that blame on him considering how much change his title run saw in WWE.

It wasn’t the greatest WWE title reign in history, but Ambrose consistently had good matches with a lot of different opponents. He remains the top face of SmackDown, but that position may open back up.

According to a report from Four3Four.com, The Lunatic Fringe will be taking some time off from WWE shortly after “No Mercy.” It’s safe to say he won’t be winning the WWE title at the PPV.

Ambrose has been through a grueling year on the road; he might be looking to recharge his batteries. Also, since he’s set to film another movie for WWE Studios in November, he may be gone until early 2017. It’s unclear how long he’ll be absent, but you can definitely expect him back before the “Royal Rumble.” Considering that this is WWE’s slow season, now is the ideal time to take a break if needed.
