WWE.com first brought up the question earlier today after his victory over Bray Wyatt last night at “Hell in a Cell”. Reigns had significant momentum after his win last night, so the anticipation to see if Reigns would be the one to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship was high leading into Monday Night Raw tonight.
WWE announced that Raw tonight would be holding a One Night Tournament to determine the #1 contender. The winners of last night’s “Hell in the Cell” event competed in a series of singles matches. Roman Reigns defeated Kofi Kington, Kevin Owens defeated Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio won his match over Neville and Dolph Ziggler was able to get the win over Big E.
The four winners entered a Fatal 4-Way in the main event of Raw. In the main event of Raw, Roman Reigns won the match and officially became the #1 contender. Seth Rollins was on commentary for the match. Reigns and Rollins had a staredown. Roman tapped the title on Seth’s shoulder and turned his back on the champion.
Reigns vs. Rollins is set and the build towards WWE “Survivor Series” has begun.
