After a week of speculation, it was confirmed last night during Raw that Kevin Owens will defend the WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at “Clash of Champions” later this month.
However, it was revealed by Mick Foley that Owens would be facing Roman Reigns next week on Raw. If Reigns wins the non-title match, he’ll be added to the title match at “Clash of Champions” making it a triple threat.
Reigns was expected to return to his feud with Rusev for the United States Championship before Finn Balor’s injury caused most plans to change, but that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.
There are a lot of ways next week’s match between Owens and Reigns could finish, but the big question is if the WWE Universal Championship match will be Owens vs. Reigns vs. Rollins?
Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens are still aligned to each other on Raw, so it’s possible we could see Jericho interfere next week to cost Reigns the opportunity and set up Jericho vs. Rusev for “Clash of Champions.”
Roman reentering the WWE Universal title picture isn’t going to set well with a lot of people, especially if he ends up taking the championship from Kevin Owens after only a few weeks to prove himself as the top guy.
