Over the past year, there have been rumors about Trish Stratus having one more match in WWE. The current talent pool of the overall women’s division on Raw, SmackDown, and in NXT would have given Trish her pick of opponents for another match in WWE.

Trish Stratus is still considered the greatest WWE Diva of all time, so bringing her into the current era of women’s wrestling in WWE would have been something amazing for Wrestlemania. However, her return to the ring was closer than most people thought.

According to a report from RingSideNews.com, Trish was the original opponent for Asuka at NXT Takeover: Toronto. Asuka vs. Trish Stratus was the plan for the event because Trish is infamously from Toronto and WWE wanted to give NXT a boost.

However, the recent news of Trish’s pregnancy have canceled those creative plans and the opportunity has been given to Mickie James instead.

Apparently, the plans was for Trish to work Takeover: Toronto and some other dates, which would have included “Survivor Series.” There are many match-ups from the main roster that we could have seen, but they’re going to feature Mickie James.
