Out of the blue, WWE released Big Cass from his contract earlier today. The move came not even two days after the Money in the Bank PPV. He lost a match to Daniel Bryan at the event. The expectation was Cass would be moving into another feud with another babyface, but WWE officials decided to give him his outright release from the company.
According to a report from RingSideNews, his release wasn’t as random as it came off to the WWE Universe today. Apparently, Big Cass was extremely upset about something at Money in the Bank and “pissed someone important off” as a result. He’s been in trouble behind the scenes before. It seems like whatever the incident was forced WWE’s hand.

There’s been some speculation that he wasn’t happy about losing to Daniel Bryan again, but there’s likely more to it than just creative differences. Whatever happened at Money in the Bank, WWE officials Monday to sit on the issue. However, Vince McMahon called a meeting earlier today and fired him. Clearly, this was an issue that could not be fixed.
We don’t have enough information yet to reveal the true cause of his release. Based on his momentum on SmackDown Live, there wasn’t anything he was doing on television that was irreplaceable. All due respect, but he’s been trying to find his footing since his return from a torn ACL. Also, losing to Daniel Bryan twice didn’t do him any favors.
We knew Big Cass was getting himself into some trouble backstage, but his behavior at Money in the Bank was the last straw. Until some more information comes to light on the situation, the only thing the WWE Universe can do is wait to see Cass’ next move.
