Earlier this week, it was reported that WWE officials have made up their minds about The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania 33 opponent and it was said to be “set in stone.” There have been many rumored names for the role, but it’s pretty obvious what the fans want.
John Cena is unquestionably the top choice. Sting isn’t far behind him on the list. Kevin Owens could be the best option. Finn Balor would be the most interesting, but it looks like WWE officials may have chosen another WWE Superstar that may surprise you.
According to a report from Sportskeeda, Randy Orton could be Undertaker’s opponent at Wrestlemania next year in Orlando. It’s hard to remember, but Orton vs. Undertaker took place at Wrestlemania 21, which did wonders to help put Orton over as a top heel.
Eleven years later, WWE may be looking to do the same thing between Orton and The Deadman again. The Viper’s recent alignment with The Wyatt Family is still on shaky ground, but over the coming months, his heel run will be much more established.
Apparently, WWE wants veterans to be working with Undertaker because he needs to be protected in the ring to ensure he has as many matches as possible. It’s going to be a matter of debate why Cena can’t do it, but Orton seems to be the frontrunner as of now.
