New United States Champion Crowned at Tonight’s Smackdown Tapings

Kalisto pulled off the surprise of year to date on this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw when he defeated Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship. 

The title win was a complete surprise for the majority of WWE fans because there have already been two title changes over the last month and the “Royal Rumble” is less than two weeks away. Surely, if Kalisto were to become the new US Champion, a PPV would be the proper place to make that title change.

WWE had other plans on Monday night and during tonight’s Smackdown taping for the USA Network, WWE had yet another title change in mind for the United States Championship.

During tonight’s WWE Smackdown tapings in Lafayette, Alberto Del Rio defeated Kalisto in his rematch to reclaim the US title roughly twenty-four hours after he lost it.

Del Rio got the victory over Kalisto after interference from King Barrett that cost Kalisto the match. Now, the former US Champion will no doubt be invoking his rematch clause for the rubber match between Del Rio and Kalisto for the “Royal Rumble” PPV.
