Major Details Revealed About Rey Mysterio's Negotiations With WWE

Ever since his appearance in the 2018 Royal Rumble, there have been rumors about Rey Mysterio returning to WWE for another run. His next appearance at the Greatest Royal Rumble gave the WWE Universe a lot of hope that Mysterio would be staying with the company. It’s been reported the two sides are negotiating, but details have been scarce.

According to a report from Lucha Central, Rey Mysterio is discussing the possibility of a three year deal with the company. Apparently, the holdup is his refusal to work a full-time schedule, but the expectation is WWE officials are going to cave eventually to his demands because they would rather have him on a part-time basis than nothing at all.

Mysterio has one of the highest pay per appearance salaries in the industry. He’s made great money outside of the company and been having spectacular matches. WWE needs to offer him enough money to make signing a long-term deal with the company worth it and ensure that Mysterio gets the same family time he was on the independent scene.

The expectation is he won’t be returning to WWE even on a part-time schedule due to a busy schedule and several big events over the summer. The earliest Mysterio would be back inside a WWE ring is September, which means he’d miss Summerslam. However, he would create a vast number of great feud or matches on Raw or SmackDown Live.

The WWE Universe should also be aware of the possibility that Mysterio might not see the value in a return to the company. He’s been doing good work with other promotions and there are a lot of reasons for him to keep that going. However, his negotiations with WWE will come down to the schedule and the money when it’s all said and done.
