A few weeks ago, Lio Rush debuted on Raw as Bobby Lashley’s “hype man.” Most people weren’t sure what to do with their pairing since it came out of left field. Over the weeks, it’s starting to come together and has culminated in an exciting heel turn for Lashley. If WWE officials are willing to make such a huge change, it seems Lio Rush is here to stay.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon had Lio Rush wear an earpiece during Bobby Lashley’s match against Kevin Owens. He was telling Lio exactly what to say during the match, which means Vince is working hands-on with Rush. His interest in the 205 Live star isn’t clear, but The Boss clearly has big plans for the duo.

Vince McMahon’s attention could be he sees potential in Lio Rush’s character. However, it’s more likely he’s hands-on because the ultimate goal is getting Lashley over. His run as a babyface wasn’t anything new. WWE officials made the decision to turn him heel on Raw this week. There’s obviously something brewing and Lio Rush is a big part of it.
With Kevin Owens on the shelf for at least four months, the next logical move was for Bobby Lashley to feud with Elias next. That could have been fun, but the heel turn is a curveball that could be a fresh start for Lashley. Vince McMahon is working on Rush’s promos himself during Raw. Whatever comes next is coming directly from The Boss.
Since Lio Rush is still actively competing on 205 Live, he’s getting some exposure from a weekly role on Raw. Buddy Murphy just had a huge moment for the brand in Australia, but it seems Rush could be the next one in line to become the Cruiserweight Champion.
